Loading Bay Studio is a research-driven workshop practice run by a consortium of industry-leading production design experts with diverse experience in international performing arts, commercial advertising, and moving-image industries. Film, video, and bespoke set design are key components of our practice, serving as the primary lenses through which we document, enhance, and activate the spaces we inhabit.
We conduct structure and process research in order to deliver project-specific designs powering temporary interventions in London’s environment, working with local authorities, communities and public spaces.
Our practice focuses on environmentally conscious and ecologically optimised research-based design, working with commissioners and communities on collaborative concept development to generate performance structures, meeting the handling and application challenges of the 21st century.
The studio facilitates the ongoing practical evolution of technical and process innovations. By merging video production with architectural set design, our goal is to expand the practical possibilities of how contemporary post-globalisation culture engages with arts, performance, and place. We navigate the complex informational, social, and material dynamics of the manmade environment to create amenities that are both functional and visually profound.
While our work and experience is diverse, our projects are connected by the focus on building and enhancing human relationships through practical, deployable productions and designs that deliver shared and profound experiences of the state of the art of aesthetics and engineering.
